Developing & Using Critical Comprehension

DUCC

About DUCC

DUCC teaches K-5 students critical thinking skills through a combination of digital literacy and social-emotional learning. It includes a 24-lesson curriculum with four lesson plans per grade, four animated videos, and two online games. DUCC is non-partisan, free, and aligned to national standards for use in any K-5 classroom.

What does the DUCC Curriculum cover?

The DUCC curriculum is flexible by design: while the lessons build sequentially within and across grade levels, each lesson can stand alone. Teachers can use any of the 24 lessons (K-5) to best meet their students’ needs and readiness levels. The lessons can fit into a teacher’s existing class schedule, as they teach digital literacy and critical thinking through history, reading and writing, science, civics, and more.

DUCC’s curriculum is rooted in evidence-based research. The content is created in collaboration with subject-matter experts on topics such as digital literacy, child psychology, social-emotional learning, critical thinking, K-5 education, library media sciences, and technology.

Each lesson includes EQs, objectives, assessments, vocabulary and is aligned to ISTE, CASEL, CCSS, and IB’s PYP standards.
